Materials testing live

The materials testing laboratory of ifw Jena supports the colleagues at the institute in their research work and carries out testing services for other research institutions and industrial companies from all over Germany. Especially when testing for external partners, it is often necessary to deliver results quickly and reliably. Many test orders must be completed on the same day. For many partners, the advice of materials testers and their interpretation of the test results is particularly important.

At ifw Jena, test results are now often transmitted in real time: Via video conference, clients from science and industry can be present during the testing of their components without having to travel long distances. This makes the work in the materials testing laboratory transparent, questions can be answered directly and results can be evaluated immediately.

A flexible setup makes it possible to transmit any type of test – radiography, SEM images, EDX analyses, tensile and compression tests or material analyses – in real time to the partners. This allows them to watch the components being placed in the plants, follow the measurement results on screen and immediately learn about the test results and their evaluation.
