Training for laser safety officers on April 14 and 15

For some years now, ifw Jena has been training laser safety officers. With the ever-increasing importance of laser beams in a wide variety of areas, the use of a laser safety officer is becoming mandatory for many companies. With the training, we optimally prepare employees to set up and supervise laser workplaces and to ensure the necessary protection for all colleagues.

The two-day training takes place at ifw Jena. In theoretical units and practical exercises in our laser laboratories, the knowledge is imparted that is necessary to become active as a laser safety officer in one's own company. The training is based on the current legal requirements (DGUV regulation 11, OStrV and TROS).

Contents include the phyisical basics and the biological effects of laser radiation, legal basics for the use of laser radiation in the company, the risk assessment of the laser workplace as well as the selection of possible protective measures and experimental tests of protective measures.

The course is aimed at all employees in companies where the use of a laser protection officer is mandatory. The course can also be taken as a refresher course for laser safety officers who have already been trained.
