ABOUT US
The Günter Köhler Institute for Joining Technology and Materials Testing (ifw Jena) is a legally and economically independent non-university industrial research institution. We are a founding member of the Zuse-Gemeinschaft and carry out application-oriented research and development for manufacturing-solutions in the context of publicly funded projects and on behalf of the middle-class economy.

First USP-system made by 3D-MICROMAC and start of research activities on ultra short-pulse lasers.

First SLM-system made by SLM-Solutions and start of research activities on Selective Laser Beam Melting.

Prof. Köhler retires, the institute carries is honorary name.

ifw Jena becomes an affiliated institute of Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena (EAH).

The welding-training-centre moves to Löbstedter Straße in Jena.
