17 Welding Specialists trained successfully

This winter, ifw Jena once again hosted the International Welding Specialist training course. 17 participants successfully passed their final examinations.

Every year from November to April, the International Welding Specialist training course takes place alongside work in accordance with DVS Guideline 1170. Every Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, the prospective welding specialists receive theoretical instruction and practical training in the laboratories of ifw Jena, and are prepared for their written and oral final examinations. In over 300 practical and theoretical teaching units, the participants acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to take on responsibility for the supervision and quality assurance of welding work in their company as a welding specialist.

The courses are taught by employees from various research areas at the institute. In addition to the necessary specialist knowledge, participants can also gain experience from everyday working life in welding research. This provides them with optimal support in acquiring the necessary knowledge.

The final examinations for all 17 participants finally took place in March 2024. In four written and several oral examinations, they successfully qualified as welding specialists and can now take on tasks as welding supervisors.

The training is carried out at ifw Jena hybrid. Thanks to the online transmission, participants do not have to travel to Jena every weekend, but can easily take part in the lessons from any location.
Since this year, the training has been eligible for funding under the Qualification Opportunities Act. This means that the participation fees for participants and employers can be reduced. The possibility of applying for funding for the training from this year onwards now enables even more companies to employ welding specialists and thus expand their fields of activity.

The next International Welding Specialist training course starts on November 8, 2024.
