Institutes, universities and companies throughout Jena open their doors for the Long Night of Science and give interested children, young people and adults an insight into their work.
The ifw Jena will also be presenting its laboratories, facilities and expertise in the various research areas on 22.11.2024.
In our laboratories, we offer many different opportunities to get to know our research work from 18:00. Of course, guests can also get hands-on and try out methods of adhesive bonding technology, laser welding, materials testing or oven-based processes live.
Among other things, we offer the opportunity to practice arc welding virtually on the welding trainer or to weld with a laser beam yourself.
In our radiography laboratory, we examine the contents of surprise eggs and we have managed to make X-rays “audible”!
In the laser laboratory, the aim is to cut wood precisely and then assemble the parts using modern bonding technology.
Our guests can process metal with a laser beam, learn how to 3D print metal, wood and even glass, how to build a laser themselves, how a robot welds by itself and what exactly a tornado is and how to calculate it.
We also offer refreshments in the furnace lab and at our bar.
In addition to our offers, the companies Lasos, Somag, AFS and JBZ will also be represented at ifw Jena and present their offers.
Before the Long Night of Science gets underway at 18:00, the opening event will take place in Jena-Göschwitz. This year, all Göschwitz partners of the LNDW will open the night together with a stage program that will whet the appetite for science.
In addition, all Göschwitz partners are once again offering a stamp rally: Anyone who collects enough stamps throughout Göschwitz can look forward to a prize.
We are looking forward to an exciting night!
