In spring 2024, the storks chose an old lamp post in Bubendorf to nest in. Residents of the village wanted to support the storks and provide them with the best possible nesting site. The nest is now supported by welded structures and a webcam shows how the stork couple raise their young.
Modern laser technology was used to enable as many people as possible to observe the storks: Laser beams were used at ifw Jena to inscribe metal plaques and create QR codes, which were hung up around the region. The weatherproof badges enable interested parties to quickly find their way to the stork nest webcam. This way, anyone can watch the young grow up without disturbing the storks.
