Eleven new laser safety officers successfully trained

Laser beams are increasingly being used in industrial manufacturing processes. Their use as a tool often offers companies unbeatable advantages, but also often requires the use of trained personnel.

The use of laser beams in production processes often requires special protective measures to protect materials, equipment, and, above all, personnel from damage caused by lasers. The appointment of a laser safety officer is often essential in this context. Laser safety officers are trained in the functioning and effects of laser beams. Their task is to ensure that the necessary safety precautions are in place in laser laboratories to enable safe working practices.

Twice a year, ifw Jena offers training courses for laser safety officers. Over two days, participants learn everything they need to know to take on responsibility for laser safety in their companies in the future. The courses at ifw Jena take place directly in the laser laboratories. Participants benefit both from the practical experience of the institute's scientists and technicians and from hands-on exercises on actual laser systems.

In December, eleven new laser safety officers were trained, who can now ensure the safety of their colleagues when working with laser beams in their companies throughout Germany.
