Türen auf mit der Maus am ifw Jena

Türen auf mit der Maus am 3. Oktober 2026
On October 3, 2026, as it does every year, the event “Türen auf mit der Maus” took place. Across Germany, companies, organizations, and institutions opened their doors and offered insights into their work. The ifw Jena has been participating regularly in this WDR event for several years.

In 2026, nearly 300 children, teens, and adults took the opportunity to learn about our work. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., we opened our labs and provided insights into our various research areas. Visitors had the chance to discover a lot and, above all, try many things out for themselves.

Among other things, visitors could

  • Cut metal with laser beams
  • Learn about 3D printing of plastics and metals
  • Try out adhesive bonding techniques
  • Control a welding robot themselves
  • Perform laser beam welding themselves
  • Practice arc welding
  • Learn about destructive and non-destructive materials testing
  • Find out how to bake plastic in an oven

In addition to many enthusiastic children, there were also many interested adults. Our colleagues had plenty to explain, discuss, and even brainstorm new ideas.

We’re thrilled by all the interest in our work!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our colleagues who contributed so enthusiastically and with such joy to the preparation and execution of this exciting day!
