Alternative methods for solder applications

Soldering as a material-to-material joining of assemblies is becoming increasingly important, especially since a wide variety of materials can be joined. The increasing complexity of components to be joined requires ever more precise solder applications and can make conventional soldering processes difficult or even impossible, especially for three-dimensionally structured parts. Applying the brazing material as a coating using PBF-LB or DED processes offers a solution approach here. In this way, the solder material can be applied precisely and already bonded to the first material, and the soldered joint is realized only between the solder and a second material.
The main objective of the project is therefore the development of coating processes based on laser powder processes, by means of which a homogeneous, well adhering and solderable layer can be applied to metallic and non-metallic substrates, while still integrating positive effects into the actual soldering process.
