Stress-free internal coding of glass products
Since May 2021, manufacturers of medical products must assign unique identifiers to their items, which will be entered into the European Database for Medical Devices. There is a growing need for an economical glass marking method that enables the coding of medical packaging, syringe bodies or glass cartridges.
The project therefore aims to develop a method for inscribing individual product information directly into the glass using UKP laser beams and flexibly programmable beam shaping. The flexible beam shaping should significantly reduce the process time in contrast to single beam processing and make the use of UKP laser systems with higher power economical. The project also aims to develop a way of recording product information in the glass using low-cost optical sensors and processing it via data management systems. For this purpose, 2D hand-held scanner systems are to be used, which are widespread from supermarket checkouts to large warehouses. In this way, the research project should contribute to the economical individual labeling of medical products and the automated reading of the coding.
