handheld laser welding

As a promising alternative to arc processes, hand-guided laser beam welding offers great potential for joining applications. The process offers many advantages, especially for large or difficult-to-access components. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the market for hand-held laser welding machines.
In order to support companies in the introduction of hand-held laser welding into their production processes, comprehensive investigations are to be carried out for various materials in the project. The aim is to find existing correlations between process parameters, microstructure and mechanical-technological properties. The influence of the laser parameters on the welding result and the effect of irregularities in the weld seam compared to conventionally welded seams will be investigated. Weld seam irregularities are also to be provoked in the project and then categorized according to defects and their causes.
The project results should provide industrial companies with knowledge about hand-guided laser welding that will enable them to use the process as quickly and efficiently as possible.
